Die sektkellereien
The history of the Marrugat cavas dates back to 1959 when José María Tetas, founder of Bodegas Pinord, decided to elaborate cava and create a new brand, to differentiate the two products. He chose the name of this company in honor of his wife, Antonia Marrugat.
The Marrugat cellar were installed in the heart of the wine region of Vilafranca del Penedes, in a modernist building of the 18 century. The large building with an underground cellar haves controlled temperature and humidity, ideal for the development of aging cavas.
Marrugat elaborates selected cavas, with base of Xarel·lo, the local variety of the Penedes. They are cavas with character and personality. The long underground cellar allows upbringings of more than 15 months and create Reserves as the Marrugat Imperial, Large Reserves as Marrugat Millésime or Marrugat Suspirum (the latter, in addition to traditional varieties of cava: Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Parellada; also has a part of Chardonnay), or very exclusive products with more than 10 years of breeding as Rima 32, cava with a special blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Currently, also cavas are produced under the brand Dibon, which are exported to over 30 countries around the world.
